Congrats Dems! Our country has spoken and the Democrats are the caretakers of our country, at least for the next two years, and if cards are played right, the next four! Congratulation from a die-hard Republican family that has voted Republican ever since legally able to vote. Even our daughter, who just turned 18, voted the Republican ticket.
Well, here's to the Democrat party and national policy for the next few years. Let's see what can be done with it, as there will be no Republicans to put any blame on. It's all yours baby! Have at it. I can understand our country electing Democrats across the board, as things sure are screwed up now, aren't they. To be honest with ya, I liked Obama much more than McCain, but I just didn't like Barack's platform.
Anyway, it's time to put politics aside and reunite, as we are back to being one country, one people, facing challenges no other period of United States history has faced.

Colleen- My young sons and my 2 young daughters all voted Republican along with Nestor and me. It was my 20 year old daughter's first time to vote. It was very exciting. My kids were all homeschooled and I taught them about being patriotic and that the vote is a blessing that they must never speak light of. They always take this responsibility seriously. I am so proud of them.
Congrats to Obama, and we are Republican die hards, the new Palin Conservative movement that I believe will pick up and start moving the party in a new and better direction.
The people have spoken and we support that word. We honor who our President is. We are Americans. At the same time, we are now to take more seriously our duties to our beliefs and moral values. We can write to our leaders, we can write to President Obama, we can write and call our Senators. We can be actively engaged to make sure our voice is heard each and every time there is a bill before Congress that affects our freedoms and families. There is much work to do, it is time to roll up our sleeves. Katerina
Well said, tomorrow is another morning in the bright future of our country, irregardless of who sits in the white house, more than ever there will and should be a united front,
@Nestor & Katerina,
"We are Americans. At the same time, we are now to take more seriously our duties to our beliefs and moral values. We can write to our leaders, we can write to President Obama, we can write and call our Senators."
Exactly! ;)
@James,
Absolutely, a united front it should be!
Colleen very well said. Im a lifelong Republican myself, however Im an American first. I did find it difficult myself completely supporting McCain, however when I consider my conservative values over my party I still voted Republican.
I look forward to supporting our new President and the changes he promises to bring to our country and the world.
@Mike,
Me too, I'm an American first, Republican second. The Democrats are inheriting a mess, let's see what all of us can do about it!

Colleen, and all other posters; I am humbled and grateful by your posted congratulatory comments and your desire to put concern and commitment for our country and for the new president elect's role in leading us forward, above partisan political philosophy and sentiment, now that the campaign is over. Here's to a new, more united and constructive era than the one we are leaving behind. I just heard on the car radio that tomorrow will be a national holiday of celebration in Kenya in honor of Obama's election.
Like the rest of you who have posted here, I did not vote for Obama, but I want to believe that his success serving as our president is our success, too. I see so much of our wealth being spent on things military, when there is such a great need to put our fiscal house in order. My hope is that the rest of the world will identify with our new president, and thus, with all of us in America, in a way that will permit us to feel secure enough to embrace a swift goal of appreciably reducing the amount our elected officials feel is adequate to protect our nation against all perceived threats.
In his victory speech tonight, president elect Obama made a commitment to pursuing the goal of a more peaceful world. The first impression his election makes to our adversaries and potential adversaries is one that requires them to reappraise who we are as a people and how they plan to relate to us and to our new president. This is an opportunity we Americans could not have hoped to purchase, no matter how much we plan to spend on our military and intelligence gathering capabilities.
God bless America!

I couldn't agree more! :o)
Colleen,
We lost. We lost a lot. We will lose more than an election. The people have exercised their right. Yes, I believe in country first, but I cannot support what Obama stands for: Abortion, Homosexual rights, redistribution of wealth, etc. None of that changes. Our only hope is to throw out Democrats in two years to try to correct what is going to be put upon us by this liberal government.
And God is in control.
Be Blessed and Pray
@John March,
Yes, I agree, I will not support the issues, and I may exercise my right as a citizen to oppose them, however, I'll support the man. :)
I've always voted for whom I thought was the best candidate for the job. That meant that sometimes I voted for a Republican, sometimes a Democrat, sometimes and Independent, sometimes a Green, and sometimes nobody at all. By doing that, I never had to be upset that "my party" lost because "my party" all are Americans, and Americans don't lose.
I am pretty sure that I wll never vote for a "compassionate conservative" again, though.
John:
I am with you all the way. Let's not bury our heads in the sand and let this marxist with his marxist regime of Pelosi, Reid, Frank and others take over our country. We must fight for what we believe in.
Sure we lost the election but let's not lose our country. We need to take it back. The conservative movement is alive and well and will get a head of steam after the inauguration. We need to write our representatives and senators, e-mail them and phone them. I think for conservatives to throw in the towel & embrace this monster is despicable. Obama stands for everything Conservatives stand against and he stands against everything Conservatives stand for.
Счастья и здоровья!
Titanium,
I do not agree with Obama's policies, however, I'm not going to resort to name calling. I'm diametrically opposed to Obama but our purposes would be served better if name calling isn't employed to state a point. Having said this, I do not think Obama is a monster, as you put it.
