Apparently, Barack Obama Voters Are LIVs...

Obama Action FigureYup, ya heard it right. Newsweek writes:

"...LIVs. That's short for "low-information voters," the three fifths of the electorate that shows up once every four years to vote for president but mostly hates politics. These are the 75 million folks who didn't vote in the primaries. They don't read newsmagazines or newspapers, don't watch any cable news and don't cast their ballots early. Their allegiance to a candidate is as easily shed as a T shirt. Several million moved to Obama through September and October; they'd heard he handled himself well in the debates..."

Apparently, according to the Newsweek article, Obama will win based on uniformed voters. It's too bad. I'm afraid Obama will win, and furthermore, Congress will be controlled by Democrats as well. Our LIVs probably have no idea what's at stake by having so many Democrats in control. Between 2009 and 2012, there will likely be two or more opportunities for the President to nominate new justices to the Supreme Court. Some court watchers say there could be as many as four resignations. The next 4 years will most likely change the course of history unlike any other period in our nation's history.

I just finished reading Larry's blog about Why he needs to vote for Obama this election, and I thought for a minute, Larry's too smart to vote for Obama (and I was right, you'll need to read his blog).

BTW, if you need further evidence of LIVs, consider this excerpt from the Howard Stern** show:

Or how about this video...

**As typical of Howard Stern, be forewarned of profanity ahead!

So if you vote for Obama you are "stupid?"  That's pretty harsh, don't you think?

The next 4 years will most likely change the course of history unlike any other period in our nation's history.

I couldn't agree more!

I see in my town where the professors live a high level of Obama support and out in the country McCain. no opinion just what I see.

@Tony, You're right, perhaps a bit harsh. However, you might want to listen to the video attached. Let me clarify. A voter voting uninformed is a stupid voter. :(

If the Democrats win the White House and a super-majority in the Senate, they'll have to make some major progress in the first 12-18 months in order to retain that. If not, 2010 could be a very interesting mid-term election cycle.

More liberals in one room than the country can stand. We can all blame Bush for the crisis in American, but we should remember the Congress has been and will be Democrat controlled. These two candidates are a joke....but in all honestly, who in the heck, in their right mind, would want to be President in today's world. America is great and we have survived bad President's in the past.
Posted by Linda Lipscomb RE/MAX Lexington Henderson County TN about 1 year ago
@John Novak, I'm afraid by 2010 the damage will be done. A few Supreme Court justices will be in place and future liberal legislation set in motion.
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago

And I would argue that McCain supporters have their heads U.T.A.  (you can figure out the acronym for yourself)

And Colleen....I would also argue that it's not just uninformed voters that are stupid voters....but voters that vote for stupid candidates are stupid as well.  What does the Vice President do again?  Is that Russia I see from my living room??? Oh wait...that's just an ice cream truck....whoops!

Posted by Mike D about 1 year ago
@Mike Dobranski, I'm not particularly thrilled with the Republican offering, however, the movie "Dumb and Dumber" comes to mind. I would argue the McCain ticket is the lesser of two evils.

"These are the 75 million folks who didn't vote in the primaries. They don't read newsmagazines or newspapers, don't watch any cable news and don't cast their ballots early." EXACTLY WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE BREAKDOWN OF REPUBLICAN VERSUS DEMOCRAT AS TO THESE "STUPID" LIV'S? Or does the article state those facts? MIGHT IT NOT BE 80% REPUBS -V- 20% DEMS? Leaving 80% of the Dems voting for Obama as HIGHLY INTELLECTUAL INDIVIDUALS????

@Linda Mae McCannon, Perhaps you should listen to the attached audio that accompanies the original blog entry. Also, listen to radio talk shows. All of them. You'll find very few (if any) liberal talk shows that are successful. Apparently, those liberals wishing to be informed are not in large enough numbers to make a liberal national radio talk show successful.
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago

Colleen -Did you actually listen to the whole Howard Stern bit?  They go on to show that McCain supporters are just as dumb as the Obama supporters they interviewed.  Or.....are you just well-trained from listening to your "successful consertative"  radio trash talk and just hear what you want to hear.

Besides.....liberals graduated from the radio a long time ago.  We've got TV and that new-fangled internet.  I'm sure the internet is just a fad, but we do enjoy reading the Huffington Post every now and then ;-)

Posted by Mike D about 1 year ago
I'm not sure about the "well trained" part. Regarding the internet,- extremist information about Obama like this is what concerns me the most: http://www.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/sen/lib.htm He's the most liberal politician in the Senate.

Eau-You are absolutely correct, the professors vote for Obama and out in the country the people are for McCain. Profs can't make it out in the real world, that is why they never leave the campus to learn what it is like to actually apply all the marxist theories they spew and brainwash our youth with. I know, my mother was a genius professor, and many of the profs I know and met are very inteligent, so much so that common sense has left them. The profs are mostly all marxist elitists in this country.

Colleen- Yes, they are stupid because they don't bother to find out the facts, they don't want to know the facts, there is no inquiry.

Nestor says to people when this happens: I am so sorry a whole generation of parents stood by while the elitist, atheist agenda was being poured into the children's minds in public schools, and parents even as they felt in their heart that things were not going 'right' in school, just turned their heads and did nothing. And this youth of today is a byproduct of that. I mean by golly, we accepted Bill Ayers to provide a national curriculum and teach our kindergarden children while he wears his red star.

Well, consider all the celebrities who support Obama, are they LIVs? No. While I do not like Obama as he does not understand Economics, I do not think all O-Voters are LIV.

Posted by real estate real estate about 1 year ago

This is sad, sad for people supporting either candidate. The fact that they thought Palin was with Obama and Biden with McCain shows the depth of their not understanding.  I can't remember which Founding Father said it but after the Constitution was signed, one of them said, " Here's your Republic, good luck in keeping it, because when the uninformed find out they can vote theirselves money it will be over. An uninformed and uneducated electorate is dangerous.

Actually, I've done my own research here.  In the Obama camp, LIV stands for Low Intelligence Voters.  Just clarifying here.

Colleen ~

Congratulations this post is now featured in the Blatant Politics Group of Active Rain.

Posted by Simon Conway (Orlando Area Real Estate Services) about 1 year ago

Colleen - You have just shown the active rain community that republicans in general are sore losers. If you think insulting someones intelligence is accepted behavior then you are part of the problem not part of the solution. While I disagree with your politics, I don't think you are stupid or uninformed.

Posted by John Guiney e-PRO, CBR (Keller Williams Realty) about 1 year ago

WOW thats a rather harsh statement. So over half is country has no intelligence?  You're saying Colin Powell and Warren Buffet are dummies for endorsing Obama?

Perhaps Obama was able to mobilize a group of Americans who felt they have had no say in the past eight years and believe that things can get better.  I'm sure under Obama he will ensure that the next round of "Uneducated" voters will have access to better schools.

Posted by Chad Baird (Re/Max Spirit) about 1 year ago
@Simon Conway, Thanks! :o) @John Guiney, Perhaps you are a LIC (low information commenter)? If you read through the blog, I stated, and I quote, "Any voter voting uninformed is a stupid voter." And it is Newsweek that is "insulting someones intelligence," I'm merely the messenger here.
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago
@Chad Baird, According to the Newsweek artticle, and I qoute from the article, "...the three fifths of the electorate that shows up once every four years to vote for president but mostly hates politics..." Apparently, of the "country's half" you mention only two fifths are informed, again, according to the Newsweek article!
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago

Perhaps they are all just apathetic?  For a voter to say they are Cristian and then vote for someone that is pro partial birth abortion ( the fetus can survive outside the womb) that is ignorant.  Choose sides, you cannot do both.

For the person that says they are in business and pro-Obama they do not understand taxes, tax implications etc...  they must be ignorant to the fact his policies will force them to find a new line of work.  Tell me how increasing the capital gains on the sale of a home to 28% will help us in a real estate sale?  No tax on a 500K sale VS.  140K on a sale with Obama!  How does this put money back into the market?  It will drive prices throught the floor.

@Nicholas Goglucci, I'm feeln' it and I'm good! @John Guiney, If you are feeling insulted, so be it. If the shoe fits, wear it, however, this post isn't about you, this post is about the three fifths of our electorate who are about the elect the next President of the United States. Frankly, the Obama voters in this forum are probably among the two fifths that are making an informed decision, despite my opposition to their decision.

I've updated the original blog entry with a second 'must see' video that further supports the mindset that will elect Obama into office. ;)
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago
There you go with another with another Republican "half-truth". The Newsweek article talks aboutr the "LIVs" and how they, being uninformed, can easily swing back and forth either way.
Posted by Leslie Prest, Prest Realty, Sales and Rentals in Payson, AZ about 1 year ago
WOW Colleen I see Nick and his buddies recruited another WONDER WOMAN to fight their Battlle. If Obama is elected the "stupid" people win and the "smart " people loose. What a concept. How exactly is it again that the "stupid' people were able to pull this off if Obama is elected? This country is divided almost 50/50 and to insinuate here that ALL the INFORMATIONAL dummies are on the left of center seems like one more Conspiricy Theory to me. But I'll stick with the Warren Buffet team.
Posted by Linda Mae Croom (928) 768-3040 about 1 year ago
@Linda Mae McCannon, I can see you have not read the full scope of the blog entry and my ensuing responses. Your comment suggests you are in fact one of the LIVs mentioned in the article. If your comment towards me is based on the information I've provided, then I can see why you might be one of the three fifths electorate the Newsweek article discusses. I'm open to resources to your point of view, but certainly not open to personal attacks. I've yet to see anything from the liberal side in way of evidence that supports the "informed" position the Democrats claim they adhere to. I've provided links, videos, and a Newsweek article. The second video is classic, if you haven't watched it yet. Especially the town hall portion.
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago

Linda Mae ~ Again, you are not observing the Active Rain guidelines and calling people out is getting the norm for you. You seem on a mission to bash anyone who does not see Obama as you see him.

Collen ~ We are for free speech here in Silent Majority. Don;t listen to the pin heads who try to stifle fre speech, it seems like the Obama way.

Posted by Nicholas Goglucci, PA. South Florida Real Estate (RE/Max ParkCreek) about 1 year ago
I just got bashed as a "stupid" LIV not only in the post but in the returning comment and I am the one not following AR guidelines? How is my comment different from John G. who feels insulted or Leslie who claims you are posting half truths? I am ALSO entitlted to Free Speech.
Posted by Linda Mae Croom (928) 768-3040 about 1 year ago
You can come to your own conclusions Linda. To reiterate what I've said previously, if you are an uniformed voter voting then you are a stupid voter. The Newsweek article suggests Obama will win due to the three fifths uniformed electorate that will swing his way, instead of McCain's way. I've provided a couple videos and links within the original blog entry as well as my comments. Not sure what else to tell ya.
Posted by Colleen Lane (The Lane Real Estate Team) about 1 year ago

I've heard people say they are voting for Obama because "I like how he talks". How stupid. The middle class are going to be shocked when they are the ones screwed.

Colleen we agree to disagree and I have read all the links and watch all the videos. I still have No understanding as to what AR guidelines I have Broke. I would think it a compliment to you to be in the higher #1 all knowing group on AR and in my 30's when everyone called me "Wonder Woman" It was as a compliment as to my looks. my strength and my brains. So what the heck is Nicholas talking about?
Posted by Linda Mae Croom (928) 768-3040 about 1 year ago
It's all good Linda. I think you are fine. Things get heated when politics are discussed and I think things got a bit too heated this morning. Personally, I wish I would have never used the word "stupid" as I should have known most folks will make a cursory pass and not read the details. The impression many received is not the one I wanted to leave. I don't think you are stupid, nor Obama voters in general, but I do think voters are stupid (either side, McCain or Obama) who are voting uninformed. It's too bad there are so many voting who are uninformed.

LIV's elected George Bush twice.  They wanted to have a beer with him. We live in a dumb country the pendulum is swinging in the other direction this time. Politics is cyclical just like real estate and the stock market.

If you did not recognize stupid in Bush, or see that McCain was only a sidekick to Bush....  then you might need to re-evaluate your thought process.

Its the morning after.. and the results show there are alot of people that totally disagreed with you  on this one! The point that it would be stupid to vote for Barack... you should not have said that - but its a free country right?

And just for the record... stupid is as stupid does.  The election shows that ...Americans are not stupid - almost 2 to 1 proved not to be stupid.

Don't let his race throw you... he is a smart man,  he is for hope and CHANGE and right about now -- those are sweet words (in case you have not been following the economy situation, following the wars where our people are losing their lives, where more people are homeless than ever, etc).

And I personally thank God that Barack is now our President ( and I am NOT a stupid woman)!
