Ok, I'll be the first to admit the following points will seem a bit random, but the points are some takeaways from Tuesday's ActiveRain RainCamp that I find valuable. I've posted Monday morning's before the break and after the break takeaways, as well as Monday afternoon's takeaways as well. Enjoy...
- Optimize your ActiveRain signature link with your keywords to provide a link back to your ActiveRain profile with your main keywords.
- The meta description (in search results) is pulled from the first sentence of your ActiveRain blog, and occasionally, the last sentence in the blog entry.
- Make blog entries timeless. In other words, write the blog entry so the content is relevant 2 years from now.
- 2 really good ActiveRain University classes tomorrow. Go here to register.
- Takes 1 closed transaction to cover the annual ActiveRain Rainmaker fee!
- You need to limit the amount of time devoted to social media - use it as a tool, not a lifestyle.
- Flavors.me provides accessibility to you for your clients and associates.
- SocialMention.com provides a resource for finding what folks are discussing on a topic you input. Receive free daily email alerts of your brand, company, CEO, marketing campaign, or on a developing news story, a competitor, or the latest on a celebrity.
- Your true worth is determined by how much more you GIVE in value than you TAKE in payment.
- How to unsuck your business:1 be there (show up), 2 be accessible, 3 be responsive, 4 be attentive (listen), 5 be givers, and 6 be valuable.
- "Your true worth is determined by how much more you GIVE in value than you TAKE in payment."
- It's a beautiful day today, have you blogged about it: http://youtu.be/Hzgzim5m7oU
- Blog about restaurants (or other reviews) then copy the post over to Yelp! for additional exposure.
- Remember old school real estate farming? Well, do the same but with your blog.
- Debe Maxwell's market reports are a good example of great market reports.
- My favorite blogging topic suggested: Steps to Selling a Home (checklists)
- Bob Stewart says blogged local events are the highest grossing traffic generators on ActiveRain.
- When re-blogging at ActiveRain, post, the edit, then change the title to make the re-blogged blog more relevant to your area niche.
- Set up Hit Router and Listing Referrals in your ActiveRain profile.
- Want all those cool fonts, colors, sizes, you see folks using at ActiveRain, try Firefox' Scribefire. Or, http://www.online-html-editor.org/
- Wikimedia Commons ~ A database of 10,391,904 freely usable media files to which anyone can contribute.
For anyone who has not attended a RainCamp, we couldn't recommend RainCamp anymore than saying if RainCamp Seattle were held tomorrow (again) we would be here! :-)

Good Stuff Colleen! I'm sure you'll start putting these tools in to place asap. RainCamp is the best - and it's great to meet people in person too!
Lots of tools Anna. When I finish implementing everything learned I'll let ya know. I'm thinking a year or two! [grins]
☂ There's certainly a lot to learn at RainCamp Colleen, and it looks like you're taking it ALL in... You've shared some good info too. Thanks!! And even when you get it all implemented ~ there'll be more <wink>
Pamela
Thanks for sharing your notes. I'll check a few of the links.
Lots of great ideas to learn at Raincamp. I hope one will finally be near where I live.
Hi Colleen, thanks so much for posting this. I was there yesterday, but my body decided to give me a cold so didn't make it today. I knew there was going to be some really good stuff there today! Bookmarking this one to go over later
Thank you for sharing...just couldn't make this one, and really appreciate your updates!
i am hoping to gift myself with Rain Camp for my birthday in August. I have so much to learn.
Thanks for sharing all this valuable information.
Colleen - It was great meeting you today and reading your nice, chirpy Tweets! Hope to see you tonight at the A/R 5 year party!
Colleen - Thank you for posting this. There's a lot of new information at the newly formatted Rain Camp. I'm looking forward to LA.
Thanks, Colleen - so much to learn from AR!
Colleen, the Rain Camps are so full of information. You make a great reporter!
LOOKS like you had some fun!!!! Can't wait for Orlando Rain Camp!!!
Colleen
Thanks for your generosity in sharing all this information. I have it bookmarked for reading again and again, and of course implementing things I have not already implemented. Sounds like it was a terrific event, as always.
Jeff
Great info! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you so much for posting this. I hope to make RainCamp in Orlando. I also bookmarked and will definately make it back when more time allows.
Colleen:
Sounds like RainCamp was very productive for you. I am bookmarking your post to review later. Thanks for sharing.
Colleen -- Along with everything else you provided yesterday and today, thanks for the reblogging tip. I don't use this too much but see how beneficial it can be using the tip above. Thanks.
Hi Colleen,
Wow, lots of great stuff on this one, learned a few nu things, thx. As for Raincamp, yet been to a few of-em myself, definitely worthwhile!
Colleen thanks for sharing, I found a couple things in your post I need to check out. I am sure day 2 was even better.
Great posting Colleen. I have been to 3 rain camp and love each and everyone of them.
Hi Colleen,
Great meeting you guys at Camp, love your summary. Had to leave a little early to catch my ferry, as you said, if they hold another one next week, I'll be there.
Thanks for the great tips, sorry I couldn't make it this year.
I am so jealous but I love the way you wrote this post. I'm bookmarking to come back to all this great info.
I wish I could have been there but I just had too much on the books as far as work.
Colleen, thanks for being there and posting this information. I couldn't, but hope to make the barbecue tomorrow :)
Thank you for sharing your experience! Keep having fun!
Colleen--thank you posting all of this useful information. I love it every time there is a Rain Camp because everyone so selfishly shares. Maybe one day I will get off the island and attend one.
Colleen ~ Thanks for the helpful recap about Rain Camp Seattle. It sounds like they're covering many great topics -- enjoy the rest of the events!
Colleen: It was so great to meet you and Joe today. Thanks for coming out for RainCamp! Let me know if there is ever anything that I can do to be of service to you both! And remember to add value to all that you do!
Thank you for the post. I got some good tips from your post.
Debe Maxelll is a great example of blogging for dollars and she is one of the stronger bloggers in AR. I can't wait top go the next raincamp .. once again!
Sounds like you were paying attention! Some great pointers here for everyone to get working on. Hope you had a blast.
Colleen, you picked up a lot of good information at this RainCamp. Thanks for passing along some pointers.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. My husband and I drove home last night and was wonderfully surprised when finding out that to top off a wonderful two days at RainCamp, we had a featured post!
I want to add that the notes we've posted are only the tip of the iceberg. There was 3-4 more times the information shared.
One of the takeaways that cannot be adequately shared in notes is the enthusiasm an attendee leaves with to return home and stay the course. RainCamp, among other things, is a shot of adrenaline to do the stuff we know we should be doing.
Colleen: Thanks for the report. I was sorry I couldn't make it. I like the part about value and giving. These are so important. Thanks again!
I have never heard of the Wikipedia Commons before and I need to check it out. Thanks for the tips.
I missed this earlier and would have missed it except for Cheryl Ritchie's re-post. Thanks, it is definitely worth reading!
Hi Colleen....Congratulations on your feature and thanks for posting the highlights of this years Rain Camp. I've been to two and I came home with my head buzzing, I'm sure you did too.
Colleen, thanks for sharing. I noticed "Your true worth is determined by how much more you GIVE in value than you TAKE in payment." was listed twice. Was that for emphasis? You can BET that I will be at the ActiveRain Camp in August here in LA.
Hi Colleen.
Thank you for sharing your notes! RainCamp is a wonderful and empowering experience. The content is ever changing and relevant as your notes show. I'm off to try some of the new 'tools'!
This list is WONDERFUL. Sounds like you are having a truly wonderful time! I'm printing your Takeaways and going thru them. Thank you!
I cannot feign ignorance any longer after reading your post...alas, I must get to work....thank you Colleen
Raincamp is great - Now if we could just bring it back to SOCAL all would be good... At least for a day.
That video of the blind guy definitely makes you think about things...
Colleen and Joe: It was so great meeting you both yesterday at RainCamp! Let's stay in touch!
Didn't know about SocialMention.com. That's going to be a big help for listening to online activity.
Hi Colleen,
These were your notes!
You took them during the classes and shared them with us.
Mine are scribbled on paper that I will probably never find again.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Phil
Hi Colleen! I'm so glad that you attended RainCamp and came away with SO much great information! I think just setting your mind to putting your top 3 picks to work for you in the first week is a great start to monetizing your blog. You'll be glad that you did! Thanks so much for the mention and I look forward to reading your blogs!
