I have two time management principles I live by. Employing both of them leads to very productive days for me.
1. Just Get Started! Simple enough, right? 90% of the battle to managing time and being more productive is simply starting the task. I cannot tell you how many times I procrastinated a dreaded task, only to find that once started, the task went smoothly and efficiently. I was reminded of this in a recent blog entry I read. See the subtitle, "Just Get Started" in ViperChill's Living Self-Employed Online: The Manual They Forgot To Give You.
2. Once started, the task does not have to be perfect to be complete. For instance, if you set out to walk/run/bike a certain distance, 80% is still ok. If you are 80% finished with that article, publish anyway and finish later if time permits. Often times, the 80% was good enough to leave as is anyway. Plus, scores of 80% completed tasks are better than a mere pittance of 100% tasks.

You can tune, re-tune, edit and re-write and often find that the first draft may have been the best draft....and shorter.
Just Do It! is what it's all about!
Thank you for sharing and posting your informative article.
Good tips to live by. They work with blogging too...just start typing and who knows where you'll end up.
Thanks everyone for the visit and kind words. I posted this at 4am, pst. You guys/gals are up waaaay too early reading blog posts. Go back to sleep, it's Saturday! :) We have a big family day scheduled today, so I'm off to the races!
Thanks for the pick-me-up Colleen. Great advice to get going on that never ending to do list.
Colleen ~ I think that just getting started is more than half the battle in time management!
End Procrasination, Forget Perfectionist! Those p's are hard to overcome.
"End Procrastination, Forget Perfectionist!"
Nice Marilyn! :)
Good advice. I am starting a non-profit for my son's congenital hand disorder and I have found that it all seems so overwhelming. As I do a task I see that they can all be done just take small steps!
Thanks Mona,
If you are required to eat a whole frog, eating one toe at a time is less overwhelming than eating the whole thing at once! :)
I like your blog Colleen.
Simple.
Practical.
I think I can remember 2 things...
(Wait - what was #2?)

@Phil,
Funny! :)
Thanks for the tips!
The more I try to blog, the more I'm giving up the perfectionism, but it hadn't occurred to me to publish at 80% complete. I'll have to process that idea while I perfect my current post . . . :)
The ACTION step means stop talking about it and begin. That is the only way to make it happen.
Good Morning Colleen,
Great blog! Thanks!
